Earn 5% Back At Amazon and Whole Foods With Your Chase Freedom Card

Every quarter, the no-annual-fee Chase Freedom Card offers 5% back on your first $1,500 in combined purchases on select categories, and from July to September of 2020, you can earn your bonus at Amazon and Whole Foods.

The Discoverer has partnered with The Points Guy affiliate network for our coverage of credit card products. The Discoverer and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers. The offers mentioned below are subject to change at any time and some may no longer be available.

That's the same 5% you'd get with the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card, but unlike that card, the Chase Freedom doesn't require you to be a Prime member. Plus, as we've covered here, if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred card, a Chase Sapphire Reserve, or a Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, you'll be able to convert your cash back into Ultimate Rewards Points for future travel purchases.

At The Points Guy's current valuation of $.02 per point, that means your 5% back will really be more like 10% back if you have one of Chase's travel rewards credit cards.

Just note that to get the bonus, you'll need to activate the bonus for your card here.

What About Groceries?

The Q3 bonus replaces the Freedom's Q2 U.S. grocery store bonus (in addition to fitness centers and gym memberships), but of course, you'll still be able to earn 5% back if you do your grocery shopping at Whole Foods. If you have one of Chase's Marriott Bonvoy credit cards, you'll also still be able to earn 6 Bonvoy points per dollar at grocery stores through the end of July. Once that promotion expires, we've rounded up a list of other cards that can maximize your earnings at the grocery store, so you can take the trip of your dreams once you're comfortable traveling again.
